Perfect Day for a Hike

I loved this fallen tree!  The way the roots were still connected solidly into the ground made me think about life with the Lord.  We are sinners, we are going to fall, but if we have put our faith in Christ, nothing can separate us from Him, like the way that this tree has fallen but is still connected to the ground where it had stood.

Halloween Fun at Work

Oh how I've missed Elizabeth since grad school has taken her away from work and me all semester!!  This picture just cracks me up!

The night sky...minus a few stars since I seemed to be leaving a trail of shooting stars everywhere I went.

Even in the Little Details

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Cheesecake

My day has been almost completely based around making this cheesecake (and I can't even eat it until tomorrow!!!).  A couple hours in the kitchen fighting with the mixer and listening to worship music on Pandora...phone calls to both my mom and my grandmother asking what in the world parts of the directions mean...phone call with grandma was absolutely awesome and so encouraging, even though she didn't know what the directions meant either.  Good times!

Not a Picture this Time, a Poem Instead.

I do love pictures, but sometimes words can paint a picture of thoughts and emotions better than any photo can portray.  That being said, I'm going to break from my usual posting of pictures and share a poem that I wrote this evening.

From Darkness Into His Light

In the dark of night,

A tear slides down her cheek.

She is all alone,

The pain is making her weak.

What a difference,

From the girl who used to be,

To the women now before you,

Because Christ has set her free.

From hiding in the shadows,

To standing in the light,

Fearful, broken, and frightened,

But God cut through her night.

She used to be the quiet one,

Locked within herself,

But now she is forgiven,

Abiding in Christ's wealth.

In the shining sunlight,

She lifts her face to the sky,

Safe within the Father's arms,

She knows with Him, she'll fly.

Thankfulness

Sorry I haven't posted in a couple days.  I had a bad allergic reaction a couple days ago and haven't been feeling well, but I'm finally back to feeling 100%.

Both of these pictures are of parts of my bedroom and show things and people that are really important to me, and most of that is shown in the photos that are in the pictures.  First of all, they show my love for photography.  As stated in the movie The Lovely Bones, "I loved the way a photo could capture a moment...before it was gone."  Photos are visual representations of memories, and I absolutely love treasuring the special moments.  The first pictures has a photo of my three siblings and a photo of me with a friend, a friend whose friendship is very dear to me.  My Bible is also in the first picture, which is significant because my faith and my relationship with the Lord is so important to me.  The second picture has a lot of meaning as well.  The photos on my wall are pictures of people, places, and things that are near and dear to my heart.  Also, each of the stuffed animals on my bed and the Nemo pillow all have a special meaning to me.  The quilt on my bed was hand sewn for me by my great grandmother and is the last quilt that she was able to make before she died.  I actually got it in the mail the day after she died.  Being in my bedroom, surrounded by all of these things, reminds me that I am loved, and in that I am reminded to be thankful for all of the wonderful people that the Lord has blessed me by allowing me to know.

I absolutely love the night sky, but even more than that, I think it is totally awesome when you can see the moon during the day!

Moments You Wish Would Never End

I've seen the Lord in a lot of things today, but one things stands out above the rest, and that is being pointed to the Lord by the wonderful and fantastic guy that I'm dating.  The Lord has blessed me so much by allowing me to have such an amazing man of faith in my life!  My walk with the Lord has grown dramatically in the past few months, and that is in large part due to having someone who is consistently pointing me to the cross.  I have been shown the Lord's love and grace so well through our relationship and I am so thankful for all that the Lord has been, and is, doing in my life through my boyfriend and our relationship. 

Baking

I greatly enjoy baking, and it's even more fun when you're baking with a friend.  Tonight's mission- pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting!

This post probably won't make complete sense to most people, in fact, even if you think you get it, you're probably wrong.  I'm 100% positive that only one person who looks at this will fully understand, and I'm completely okay with that.  Let's just say that while giraffes are my favorite, I like them even more now!
